Real Ultimate Polish

A lovely Etsy store, Nail Pattern Boldness, has a line of polish inspired by the book, Real Ultimate Power. If you are unfamiliar with Real Ultimate Power, I suggest  you go here: http://www.realultimatepower.net as soon as  you finish this post. There are several polishes in this line, I only have two, but boy, are they beauts.

As you can see, I have Ninja vs Pirate and Sepukku (With a Frisbee). Ninja vs. Pirate is a nice mix of black and white shard glitter. The white seem to be a little iridescent, but not with a color shift. Sepukku (With a Frisbee) is a mix of matte yellow, red and/or orange micro glitters. I loves em both.

Two coats Sepukku

Two coats Sepukku with one coat Ninja vs. Pirate on top.

These pictures are without topcoat. A nice topcoat will give you an even surface and great shine. Nail Pattern Boldness even has one she recommends available in her shop.

Glitter bombs like these can be difficult to apply. Not these two, however. They seem to avoid the pitfalls common to the glitter obese, like sparse glitter, having to “dab” to get glitter where you would like it, etc. Overall, they are both very easy to work with, and have even and thick glitter payoff.

Stars in my eyes

This post is dedicated to my dear friend, Mavis. You shine brighter than the stars at night.

So, the aforementioned Mavis and I were in Claire’s the other day, and much to her dismay, (she is alarmed at my cosmetics hoarding) I bought most of the Starstruck collection. Then I realized I was missing one, an ORANGE one none the less, so I HAD to order it online, of course. It came in the mail today, so now I feel complete. For the time being.

Left to right: orange – Little Dipper, green – Drops of Jupiter, blue – Moon Dust, purple – Cosmic, pink – Flying Saucer.

Lovelies, my precious!

They each have are filled with micro glitters with a duo/multichrome effect. Pink shifts to goldish, purple also has blue micro glitters and shifts pinkish, blue has a strong pink/purple shift, green shifts purple, and the orange is filled with yellowish micro glitters that shift green. As is the case often with shifty-style colors, it is much more pronounced in the bottle than on the nail. Please pardon my dry cuticles and half-assed clean up.

My middle finger is crooked. It’s genetic.

Despite the color shift not being as overt as one may wish, these are beautiful colors. The first coat goes on pretty sheer, the pictures show two coats each. I was pleased with the coverage of two coats, I can see some visible nail line in the pink, but not enough to be a problem in my opinion.

Left hand, less crooked middle finger.

This is a little blurry, but you make out the micro glitters I’m blabbing about, as well as the nail line on my ring finger.

All in all, I like these guys. Of course. I wish Mavis wasn’t so upset about it, but I guess it’s none of her damn business, really ;p

July. So glad it’s over.

July was a rough month. It was busy with bad things and good. I started cosmetology classes. Super fun, so glad I am doing that! We added a new family member, Fancy,  6 year old dachshund. I took an unplanned trip to Texas after my best friend became very ill, very unexpectedly. Now that things have settled down and I’m getting used to my busier schedule with school, I plan to get this blog up and pumped again! For now, here’s some pics of my nails for the hectic July that was:

Ok. So these are from August. I’m a liar.

To give you all sweet dreams, I’ll leave you with my school locker:
